Let’s look what you need to choose to study for CDL:

CDL (CLASS A):

CDL (CLASS B): When you get your Class B CDL you can drive: Straight trucks, Buses, Firefighter vehicles, School Buses….

*If you plan to drive a straight truck you do not need to study passenger endorsement section.

*If you plan to drive a Bus you must study the passenger endorsement which is included in our class B study package.

*If you plan to drive School bus, then you need to study the whole CLASS B study package plus the School bus endorsement as well.

*If you plan to drive firefighter vehicle, you need to study the Class B study guide package you and you need to get your firefighter endorsement as well, but you do not need to study the passenger endorsement section.

Hazmat Endorsement written test
Do like to Haul hazardous materials such as Fuel, Gas, Chemical, if the answer is yes, then you need to study the Hazmat endorsement section of your commercial handbook .

School Bus Endorsement Written Test

Then you need to study the School Bus endorsement as well, remember you need to study this section only if you want to drive a School bus.

California Learner’s permit
Did you know that you can take your driver’s education course in the comfort of your own home?

One of the first steps on getting you California Driver’s license is to obtain provisional permit, which is commonly referred to as a learner’s permit.

Of you are at least 15 ½ years old or younger than 17 ½ years old , then you will be require to complete Driver ED. Here is what you need:

First: Complete a state-approved Driver education course that consists of:

-25 hours of classroom instruction. This classroom instruction may be completed through:

California Secondary School classes.

A state-licenses professional driving school course.

An internet training program as long as it meets the requirement of 25 hours

-6 hours of driver training, Your driver training cannot exceed 2 hours per day, and if you are observing another driver in the car , that time does not count toward your requirement for 6 hours.

Second: Once you have completed Driver’s Ed it’s time to visit your local DMV and take your Learner’s Permit Exam.

Learner’s Permit Exam.

Here’s what you’ll need to bring:

-A completed Driver License or Identification Card Application (Form DL 44). This form must be picked up at the DMV in person and cannot be downloaded, photocopied or faxed. Be sure to have your parents or guardians sign the application.

-Proof of Social Security number. It will be verified with the Social Security Administration while you are at the DMV.

-Your original birth certificate, or a certified copy of your original birth certificate.

-Proof of identity and lawful U.S. presence (e.g. unexpired U.S. passport, Certificate of Citizenship or Naturalization, original or certified birth certificate).

-Proof of your California residency with at least 2 documents (most likely provided by your parents), including:

-House utility bill.

-Mortgage bill.

-Lease or rental agreement.

-CA vehicle registration or title.

-Pay stub (with your home address).

-Insurance papers.

-Certificates stating that you either:

-Completed Driver’s Ed.

-Completed driver education and driver training.

-Are enrolled and participating in an approved driver training program.

If you’re over 17 1/2 years old, but not yet 18 years old, you do not have to provide certificates of completion for driver’s education and driver training. However, you must wait until you’re 18 years old to take the driving test.

Here’s what you’ll need to do:

-Pass a vision exam.

-Pass the written permit test.

-Have your picture taken.

-Provide a thumbprint.

-Pay the application fee.

The DMV written permit test contains written questions about California traffic laws, road signs, and rules of safe driving. There are 46 questions on the exam. A passing score is at least 38 correct answers.

You will have 3 chances to pass. If you fail the exam, the DMV requires you to wait 7 days before taking the permit test again.

Motorcycle written test

Applying for your license

If you are under 21, you must complete a motorcycle rider training course given by the California Highway patrol(CHP) and provide a certificate of completion of Motorcycle Training (DL 389) to DMV. You will not be required to take the motorcycle test if you currently have a California Driver’s license.If you are over 21, you may choose to complete the Course by CHP and provide the certificate OR schedule an appointment at DMV to take the driving test. You have three chances to pass the test.
